Kenneth Shores, a new faculty member in the School of Education, was part of a group of scholars, policy leaders, and educators that contributed to a new report from the National Academy of Education on educational assessments in the COVID era. Equity issues are at the center of this report; the report discusses how to assess student learning during the pandemic, especially among historically marginalized, disadvantaged, and underserved students, while ensuring that the assessment is fair and the data is trustworthy.

CEHD Assistant Professor Discusses the Impact of Federal Aid to Schools During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In a recent article in The 74Kenneth Shores, assistant professor in CEHD’s School of Education and the Joseph R. Biden Jr., School of Public Policy, discusses the impact of federal aid designed to curb student learning loss during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Shores notes that the federal relief funds likely benefited students, but its actual impact is difficult to measure.
